James Shelburn Branton

Mr. James Shelburn Branton of Taylor passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 59.

Funeral services will be held at  2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Taylor Assembly of God Church with Rev. Jimmy Creel and Rev. James Register officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.   The family will receive friends at the church Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.  Mr. Branton was born November 4, 1958 in Houston County to James and Geraldine Birge Branton. Shelburn was a lifelong resident of the Taylor Community where he worked on the family farm.  He was a great son, husband, father and grandfather who loved his family and will be deeply missed.  Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Karen Creel Branton; daughter, Sheena Branton; son, Foster Branton and his wife Heather; grandchildren: Jayden, Adeline, Kaleb and Emily; his parents: James and Geraldine Branton; several aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family and friends.
