Franklin Levi Shirah

Mr. Franklin Levi Shirah of Dothan passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at his home. He was 77.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Slocomb with Rev. Royce Morrow officiating. Burial will follow in Burns Assembly of God Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until service time.

Mr. Shirah was born December 10, 1938 in Dale County to the late George W. and Belle B. Ard Shirah. Franklin was a dedicated public servant and retired from the Dothan Police Department after 19 years of service.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, sisters: Glenda Hall, Claire Bradley and Clyde Trawick; brothers, Pheaborn, Charlie and Looney Shirah all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Pansy Barron Shirah, Dothan; daughters: Theresa P. Shirah, Dothan, Quentina Hall, Slocomb and Valerie Shuyler (Tony); son, Derrick Shirah (Eugenia), Dothan; brother, Clarence Shirah, Midland City; four grandchildren: Crystal Meissner, Allison Singleton, Allan Carroll (Ashley) and Jordan Shuyler; five great-grandchildren: Trey, Cole, Cooper, Grayson and Nolan; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers: Greg Shirah, Jason Shirah, Brian Shirah, Taylor Shirah, Danny Shirah, Pat Hall and David Hall.
