Obituary

Eli will forever be celebrated for his unwavering faith, his dedication to family, and the warmth with which he touched the lives of so many.

Surrounded by the love of his family, Mr. Eli Sfassie departed this life on June 29, 2026, at the age of 92 in Holmes County, Florida. A man of deep faith, Mr. Sfassie was a cherished member of the Carmel Assembly of God Church and a proud veteran of the United States Navy, whose honorable service reflected his steadfast commitment to his country.

Eli was born on October 5, 1933, in Gary, Indiana, to the late Floria and Kathlen Sfassie. His life was marked by vibrant passions—most notably, his love for the water and boating adventures that defined so many joyful moments.

In heart and soul, Eli shared an extraordinary partnership with his beloved wife, Myra Miller Sfassie, who preceded him in death after 62 years of marriage.

He leaves a legacy of love and family, survived by his devoted children, Kathleen Adams (Robert) of Bonifay, FL, and Robert Sfassie of Oak Hill, FL. His spirit lives on through his grandchildren: Tiffany Beech (Cael), Ryan Sfassie (Jessica), and Dustin Sfassie; and great-grandchildren: Faith, Cace, Cade, Clay, Christian, and Adina. In addition, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends mourn his passing and celebrate a life well lived.

A service to honor and remember Mr. Sfassie's remarkable journey will be held on July 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Carmel Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Jerry Moore officiating, followed by interment at Esto Community Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Friends and family are invited to gather one hour before the service for a time of shared memories and support.

Eli will forever be celebrated for his unwavering faith, his dedication to family, and the warmth with which he touched the lives of so many. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
