Edna Ruth "Boots" Myers Scarborough

November 22, 1924 — April 21, 2018

Mrs. Edna Ruth "Boots" Myers Scarborough of Slocomb went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 21, 2018.  She was 93.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m.  on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Lee's Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Winston Jay officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.  Mrs. Scarborough was born November 22, 1924 to the late Paul Edgar and Jessie Earl Thomas Myers.  Edna was a great woman of faith and was dedicated to Christian service.  She and her late husband labored together in the gospel where he pastored many Methodist churches in Alabama and Florida. She had such grace, a warm smile and an encouraging word. The writer declared: "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life... Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised."  In addition to her parents, her husband, Rev. George Scarborough and a son, Larry P. Scarborough preceded her in death.  Survivors include her children: Georgia Anna Harriott, Jerry Scarborough (Susan) and Tommy Scarborough; grandchildren:  Tony Thorne (Alicia), Jessica Green, Brian Scarborough, Douglas Scarborough, Andrew Scarborough, Adam Scarborough (Angelia), Amy Bright; great-grandchildren:  Skyler Green, Haydn Thorne, Braylyn R. Gonzalez, Chelly Thorne, Carter Bright, Owen Bright, Ella Scarborough and Ava Scarborough; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
