Deborah “Debbie” Kay Bradshaw Helms

Mrs. Deborah “Debbie” Kay Bradshaw Helms, age 67, of Midland City, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.

Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Monday, March 28, 2022, at Sorrell’s Funeral Home in Slocomb, with Rev. Scott Byrd officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM and continuing until the service time.  Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery with Sorrell’s Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.

Born June 5, 1954 in Geneva County, Debbie was the daughter of Robbie M. Bradshaw and the late Calvin P. Bradshaw.  She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Slocomb.

Debbie graduated from Slocomb High School in 1972.  She attended Riley Business College and earned a degree as a legal secretary.  After graduation, Debbie worked as secretary to Attorney Perry Calhoun before becoming secretary for Attorney Bryan Dowling.  For the past thirty-five years, she has been legal secretary for Attorney Mac Borland.  She was loved by all and admired for her dedication to her job.

She was preceded in death by her father, Calvin Bradshaw, and her father-in-law, Willie “Bud” Helms.

Survivors include her husband of forty years, William Lamar Helms; mother, Robbie Bradshaw; brother, Tony Bradshaw; mother-in-law, Sarah C. Helms; and one aunt.  She leaves to cherish her memory many cousins, co-workers, and friends.
