Bobby Rex Messer

Mr. Bobby Rex Messer of Abbeville passed away Monday, March 25, 2024 at his home. He was 88.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Friendship Baptist Church in Geneva with Rev. Reggie McAllister officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.

The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. and continuing until service time.

Mr. Messer was born January 24, 1936 in Geneva County to the late William Otis and Elizabeth Deshazo Messer. Bobby enjoyed traveling and taking trips with his wife, Marie. He was a founding member and served as president for the Alabama Treasure Forest Association of the Henry County Chapter. Mr. Messer was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Geneva.

In addition to his parents, brothers: Roy A. Messer, Marion Don Messer, and Franklin Otis “Buddy” Messer; sister, Joann Messer Smith all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Marie King Messer; sons: David Wayne Messer (Frances), Robert Terrell Messer (Peggy), Randall Eugene Messer (Paula), and step-son, Curtis David Cobb (Becky); 14 grandchildren; countless great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends
