Billy Joe Tew

Mr. Billy Joe Tew of Slocomb passed away Monday, November 3, 2014 at his home. He was 71.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Strickland and Rev. Freddie Snell officiating. Burial will follow in the New Teamon Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Mr. Tew was born August 31, 1943 in Geneva County, to the late Clifton and Essie Mae Hardy Tew. Billy loved the Lord and was a man of great faith. He enjoyed studying the scriptures and would gladly share with anyone the great lessons that he had learned. Billy was a hard worker and a great provider for his family. He loved raising cattle and working on the farm. He possessed a great sense of humor with a tender and loving heart and will be dearly missed.In addition to his parents, his son, David Michael Tew preceded him in death.Survivors include his wife, Betty Tew, Slocomb; daughter, Allison Buonavolanto (Anthony Granata), Chicago, IL; step-daughter, Tasha Orlando (Tony), Denver, CO; three grandchildren: Christopher, Angelina and Julianna; three sisters: Martha Reeder, Betty Overton and Sandra Thrasher (Jay), all of Dothan; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
