Mrs. Beth Johnson Meeks of Opp peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the age of 85, at her home surrounded by the warmth and love of her devoted family.
A cherished daughter of the late Levi Buck and Robbie Register Johnson, Mrs. Meeks was born on April 8, 1940, in Florida and was a proud graduate of Columbus High School. Throughout her life, Beth was a woman of steadfast faith and grace, a devoted member of Ino Baptist Church where she lovingly dedicated her time to Children’s Ministries, Vacation Bible School, and the seniors at church. Fondly known as “Maw-Maw,” she was the unwavering pillar of her family—a beloved wife, adoring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her southern charm was matched only by her renowned culinary delights, especially her dressing, brownies, and pecan pies, which remain unforgettable to all fortunate enough to have savored them.
Mrs. Meeks leaves behind her beloved husband, Charles Meeks; her daughter, Robin Sensabaugh (Daryn); son, Rodney Meeks; grandchildren Graceanne Spears, Tiffany Thornburg, Jonathan Chancellor and his wife Laura, Katy Mojica and her husband Daniel, Kayla Gannon and her husband Broxton, and Paige Sensabaugh; as well as great-grandchildren Natalie Wiggins, Alyssa Wiggins, Mason Chancellor, Josie Kate Chancellor, and Dakota Chancellor. She is also survived by her sisters Ann Arnold and Linda Boswell and her husband Wayne, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and an extended circle of loved ones and friends.
A celebration of Mrs. Meeks’s remarkable life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Ino Baptist Church, with Rev. Gary Winstead and Rev. Danny Branch officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her honor to the Wounded Warrior Project, continuing her legacy of compassion and generosity.
Mrs. Beth Johnson Meeks’s life was one of faith, love, and devotion—a true southern lady whose spirit and kindness touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she enriched.
